Training built on trust. Relationships built to last.
Positive Foundations Dog Training
Hi, I'm Sadie, owner and trainer at Positive Foundations Dog Training. I believe dog training should do more than teach a list of behaviors; it should help you better understand your dog, communicate more clearly, and build the skills you need to succeed together long after our sessions end. That belief is at the heart of Positive Foundations, and behind the idea that every relationship deserves a strong foundation.
How I got here
I’ve been working with dogs professionally since 2012, with experience in grooming, pet retail, pet sitting, and animal nutrition before earning my first dog training certification in 2017. In 2019, I made dog training my full-time focus. Over the years, I’ve worked with dogs and families at all different stages, from brand-new puppies learning their first skills to adult dogs building manners, confidence, and better communication with their people.
As I grew as a trainer, I realized there was a need for more personalized training options alongside traditional group classes. Some owners want extra guidance, flexibility, and support tailored to their dog, their goals, and their day-to-day life.
Positive Foundations was created to provide that kind of support- personalized, practical training that helps both ends of the leash feel more confident.
My approach
Positive training with a purpose.
My training is positive, science-based, and centered around clear communication, thoughtful reinforcement, and building behaviors that work in everyday life. No matter which program you choose, the purpose stays the same: to help your dog understand what’s expected and help you feel confident guiding their success.
Force-free
My methods are grounded in behavioral science, positive reinforcement, and thoughtful training strategies. Through ongoing education, I continue to refine my approach rather than relying simply on tradition or “the way it’s always been done.”
Clear Communication
I don’t just want to show you what to do while I’m standing beside you. I want you to understand why we’re doing it, what your dog is communicating, and how to keep making progress on your own.
Individualized
Every dog and family is different. My training is adapted to your needs and goals, while also taking your dog’s personality, learning pace, and individual needs into account, so the skills we build make sense for your life together.
Owner-focused
The goal isn’t just a trained dog. It’s an owner who understands their dog, knows how to support their success, and feels confident continuing the training long after our sessions end.
